We created MyFire because of our love for nature and for travelling around Australia. We always try to stay in as many natural campsites as possible. Actually being close to water is another priority. So during our last trip, we enjoyed our camping at Mystery Bay. That location is ideal for us!
Camping At Mystery Bay – The Perfect stopover
If you have not been camping at Mystery Bay yet, we recommend that you add it to your list of places to visit. Mystery Bay is one of the few natural camping areas remaining on the New South Wales south coast, south of Narooma. Although not far off the Princes Highway, it is simply a lovely place that feels miles away from anywhere.
The municipal camping ground is quite large, with many camp sites scattered throughout the native bush. They are unpowered natural spaces, just right for our self sufficient van. We try to do free camping often but we also call in to parks every 4 or 5 days, to top up with water and charge the battery.
From our caravan window we could admire the sea between the trees. How wonderful is that?
The coastline views are spectacular and walking along the beach is incredibly pleasant. Actually there are lots of things to see and do around the area, whether you go by yourself or with a young family. Explore the region, swim or surf; or fish from the beach. Boating or kayaking are other options when camping at Mystery Bay. As well as beach walking, bushwalking is another of our favourite activities. There is definitely enough to keep us all happy, active and rested too with relaxing evenings quietly enjoying some good local food cooked on MyFire. A perfect way to start or end the day.
Camp Responsibly And Enjoy MyFire
When camping at Mystery Bay, the bush environment means that all fires must be contained within a fire pit and must be completely extinguished prior to vacating the site. Of course you must use MyFire responsibly at all times, especially during periods of dry hot weather. Be aware of weather conditions and respect fire bans!
